Study On The Waterfront Landscape Design In Chongqing Dongliang River

As the society pays more attention to the research and practice in urban renewal and renovation projects,it is very necessary and applicable to develop public water front space,which is one of the most important public spaces in water front city,meeting the needs in modern city.Generally,waterfront area is not only the cradle of urban culture but also the effective carrier of urban vitality.On both material level and spiritual level,the water front space can make a big difference to people’s social life.The whole vitality of Waterfront Space consists of four factors which are ecosystem vitality,economic vitality,social vitality,and cultural vitality.Ecosystem vitality includes water body,landform,greening vegetation,and revetment.Economic vitality includes land use and space value.Social vitality includes public activity,public space and the arrival of waterfront’s transportation.Cultural vitality includes regional culture and historical context.One thing should be noted is that there are not specific boundaries among four factors,and they interact with each other,finally integrating and forming a global concept.This paper focuses on the waterfront of Chongqing Dongliang River.Chongqing Dongliang River’s topographic relief is changeable,and ecological resources are abundant in ecosystem vitality,however,it’s destroyed in different degrees.In economic vitality,the function of land use is monotonous with most parts not developed yet,and the space value is not utilized well.In social vitality,the waterfront activities lack diversity.The outside transportation arrival and inside convenience are insufficient.In culture vitality,the downstream of Dongliang River owns abundant historical cultural resources and high value to be developed.After these explorations,we could more effectively activate the vitality in Dongliang River waterfront space,by redesigning and renovating the space from different angles about vitality.If we really tried those plans,we may bring Dongliang River waterfront space the largest attraction to people within this areas in four key aspects-ecologically,economically,socially and culturally,thus finally driving the development and prosperity of Dongliang River waterfront space and its surrounding area.
