Research On Traditional Architecture Space Regeneration Based On "old And New" Symbiotic Idea

With the change of times and increasingly quick course of globalization,modern architecture is spreading rapidly like mushrooms after rain.In current China,this situation is even more obvious,modern architecture is emerging in endlessly,which occupies the most of urban space,and so the fate of traditional architecture becomes a thorny issue.Traditional architecture is the witness of the historical river,and also the ballast of history,culture and national spirit.It is investable that the precipitating of city history will be lost if being simply and roughly dismantled,which can cause the complexion of thousands of cities in same appearance.Meanwhile,it can also exacerbate the urban environmental pressure and generate a lot of wastes,which is not in line with the strategies of resource conversation and environment protection in China.With the continuous improvement of human's recognition,facing with the issue that traditional architecture is unsuited to the life mode of modern people,transforming traditional architecture becomes a general consensus in society.However,there are a series of problems appearing in the process of transformation,such as lack of local culture,abuse of former symbol.Therefore,how to make transformation of traditional architecture space more appropriate and innovated,achieve regeneration of traditional architecture and the continuation of historical culture feeling is the problem we are facing with and have to be settled urgently.This thesis starts from the connotation of “old and new” symbiosis theory and value of traditional architecture,then it points out the problems in the process of transformation of traditional architecture space,and analyzes the causes of problems by combining with cases.It proposes the theoretical basis and design philosophy of research on traditional architecture regeneration under “old and new” symbiotic idea,and under guidance of theory,then conducts discussion on design expression.This thesis discusses in detail that space is how to achieve old and new symbiosis,old and new matching,function update and culture regeneration for aspects of space transformation,reserve of old factor,symbiosis and integration of old and new material by combining with example illustrations.In the last part of thesis,it further practices how to deal with old and new relationship through reading up the three successful homestay transformation cases and the case practice that the traditional architecture in Beicang Street of Suzhou was transformed as homestay,which provides a more comprehensive transformation thinking and methods for the exploration in day to come.
