Study On The Analysis Of Architectural Space And The Regeneration Of Traditional Dwellings

This paper is organized with two parts. The first part:The space is the start point and the destination for human being's building activities. It is also an important site with substantial and spiritual practice of human. As a certain kind of substantial exist between the nature and the man, the building space supports all the pressure outside from the nature. It also influence the human's psychological change from inside—even the evolution and survival of the human beings.Based on analyzing and inducing the traditional method of space analysis, and also followed the logical thinking of technique, the paper sets up some new views like the basic restrictions in space and the defects of space etc. With the ways of both inducing and deducing, it is the first time that the paper constructed a view of the "entire space" through the bi-axes of architectural and healthy-ecological characters of the space.From cognition of the "entire space", the paper studied the special structure, modality, and the meaning of the space within traditional dwellings. By using the relevant principals from Ecology, Environmental Ecology, Ecological Engineering and City Ecology, it analyzes the healthy—ecological features of the dwellings' space, sets up the definition of the dwelling ecological system, and discusses the relative comfort environment between the dwelling ecological system and the nature. It also studies the differences between the natural ecological system and the dwelling's, and the regulation of special feedback within dwelling's ecological system, as well as some other important characters and regulations of them.With the studies on the special features of restrictions and the defects in space as well as the basic relationship of them with the modern times, the paper puts forward thinking about energy conservation and the future direction of the development for traditional dwellings. It then gives a critical cognition with philosophical thoughts to the negative action of the modern technique on the dwellings, and sets forth that we should direct the development of dwellings with the thoughts of constructional post modernism and also the scientific and ecological techniques. Only in this way could the "entire ecological space" of the dwellings be evolved as a complex ecological system with good circulations in the natural surroundings. The second part:It stars with analysis on the natural evolution and puzzles that the traditional dwellings have when facing the modernization, and then puts forth a critical thought on both the negative action of the modern technique to the dwellings and the historical responsibility of the architects' creation. Through reading the contexts in traditional dwellings, the paper puts forward the idea at the first time that the basic three factors of the dwellings' space should be greenly regenerated. At the same time, the paper discusses and analyzes the phenomena of "ecological poverty" and the "ecological evolution toward city". On a full understanding about the traditional housing environment mixed with natural landscape and spiritual beauty, the study sets up the possible way and direction for the green return of the entire ecological space of the traditional dwellings.From the bi-axes of the architectural system and the ecological one, it is also the first time that the paper constructs a structural frame for the entire ecological space of the traditional dwellings, and it puts forward the strategy with three aspects: to continue the local contexts, excavate the traditional ecological structural experiences and to focus on the return of both the local culture and technique.
