As an important seal component in aircraft engine,the sealing characteristics of metal seal ring will directly affect the safe operation and efficiency of the aircraft engine.With the continuous improvement of the aircraft engine performance,metal seal ring needs to adapt to more severe working conditions,which require higher performance of metal seal ring.Meanwhile,reducing the quality of the seal ring is an effective means to lower manufacturing cost.Therefore,it is important to improve the comprehensive performance of the seal ring through the analysis and optimization of the sealing performance.This paper takes a certain type metal W-ring as the research object.The sealing performance,multi-objective structure optimization and thinning performance of metal W-ring are studied.On the bases of the established finite element model,the sealing performance of metal W-ring is analyzed.Considering the several performance indicators,including the quality,the maximum equivalent stress and the maximum contact stress,multi-objective optimization of metal W-ring is carried out.Through the sealing performance comparison between thinning and ideal thickness,the method that simulats the thickness thinning of metal W-ring is determined.The main contents are as follows:(1)A finite element model of metal W-ring is built.Stress analysis is carried out for normal temperature preloading and high temperature working conditions.Then the influence of working parameters and structure parameters of metal W-ring on its sealing performance is analyzed.The axial stiffness and compression resilience characteristics of metal W-ring are analyzed.Through the summary of the axial stiffness and stress change regulation of metal W-ring with different outer diameters,the performance prediction of metal W-ring with different outer diameters is realized.(2)According to the influence of the structure parameters on the sealing performance and quality of the metal W-ring,the design variables that have great influence on the optimization target are selected,the optimization targets consisting of the quality,the maximum equivalent stress and the maximum contact stress.The Latin hypercube sampling method is used to collect sample data of design variables and response.Then the second-order response surface model is constructed,and the accuracy of the model is verified.Multi-objective optimization is carried out based ongenetic algorithm.Finally,the sealing performance of metal W-ring is improved and the quality is reduced.(3)Considering thickness thinning of metal W-ring in forming process,based on the actual measurement thickness value of forming samples,the thinning model of metal W-ring is built,and the sealing performance of metal W-ring between thinning and ideal thickness is compared.According to bellows thickness thinning method similar to the structure of metal W-ring,it is determined that the ASME thinning method is suitable for the thickness thinning of the metal W-ring studied in this paper.
