Metal sealing ring is one of most widely used in industry as a static seal structure. Its structure size is much smaller than the whole equipment, but its sealing performance will directly affect the operation of the equipment even of the whold system. Now the main structures of metal sealing rings in industry contain O-ring, C-ring and so on. These rings have played important role in different working occasions. But for moving equipment, traditional sealing ring can not satisfy operating requiremengts very well, and the leakage phenomenon offen occurs. This phenonenon is absolutely not allowed in precision industrial such as aerospace industry.Metal W-shaped seal ring (refered to as W-ring) is proposed based on this background. This research purpose is mainly to apply it to helicopter. This new seal structure is rarely used in the domestic.Compared with other forms of sealing ring, it has excellent matching property of vibration, and it is more suitable for vibration occasions, and in the industrial fields it has a large space for development. The finite element software ANSYS is used to analyse W-ring. Contents are as follows: 1. According to initial structural parameters, W-ring finite element model is built and stress is analyzed under three different working conditions.2. Using finite element method, stress and seal performance analysis are presented and discussed from two aspects of operating parameters and structure parameters.3. Acoording to the different requirements of preloaded, Structure parameters of W-ring is respectively optimized with optimization tool of ANSYS software. And the reasonable structure parameters are ultimately determined.4. Dynamics feature of the W-ring is analyzed, such as model analysis, harmonic analysis. Natural frequencies under different constraint conditions and steady state response under the simple harmonic vibration was obtained.5. The seal leakage experiment and axial stiffness experiment of W-ring are carried. And compared with the theoretical analysis result, it is found that the experimental results are consistent with the analysis results, thus the rationality and validity of the theory analysis are further verified.
