| This paper discusses and inspects a series of user-based design research that focus on the physical granular sliders,which are working on a new released/updated generation mini version of musical granular synthesiser prototype from Collidoscope,which named Mini-Collidoscope.At first,it started with a public showcase and informal usability study for Collidoscope,which is an interactive synthesiser installation.It was innovated for realizing two musicians play the machine at the same time,providing a creative machine for defining the new pattern of musical instrument design.After that,it collected efficient feedbacks about this musical machine,it required a totally new generation design of small sized and new features Collidoscope for public.There records a great deal of detailed design process and programming procedures in middle chapter,also introduces some essential software and hardware which was designed and realized as part of this project.It should be underlined that one of most important section in here is introducing the detailed experiments and evaluation of physical granular sliders between Collidoscope and small prototype.Given the principle of comparison usability test,it with the formal experimental results for the implemented tasks construction,chiefly for researching human habitual manipulation method on physical sliders with audio dynamics HCI user interface.This paper describes all these details for the visual design on the chapter of design research method,including summary of elementary programme language,electronic hardware with the transmission of open-source software information and multi-organic interaction etc.Last but not the least,the final chapter in this thesis focus on recording,which reviews and explains all these general contents in previous parts,summarizing former Collidoscope version with this modified and updated hifi-prototype Mini-Collidoscope for its usability test and design evaluation on physical granular synthesiser slider.According to standardized usability A/B testing,it is well to know that the humanism manipulation method for carrying intelligent dynamic HCI application of physical sliders,besides,it could prove some outcomes for normal practical design research. |
