Dormitories are important places to study and live for college students.Generally speaking, dormitories have the characteristics of narrow space, high personnel density and lack of fresh air,and easily causing the spread of diseases. Therefore,Dormitories have a serious effect on the health of college students. This study analyzed the relationship between dormitory environment factors and health effects of college students by the questionnaires released in Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture. The questionnaire was conducted in June 2015.1727 colllege students and 890 dormitories were investigated in the two campuses, involving to 634 college students and 317 dormitories in Xicheng Campus and 1093 college students and 573 dormitories in Daxing Campus. The questionnaire consists of two parts, dormitory environment factors and health status of college students. The investigated dormitory environment factors include the construction age, humidity, bad smell, smoking, biological feeding, cleaning habits, living density, dormitory location and so on.The investigated health status include respiratory tract infections, allergic diseases, sick building syndromes and so on.Statistical Products and Service Solutions(SPSS)software was used for the data analysis, and the statictical methods are frequency analysis, crosstab analysis and binary Logistic analysis. The results showed that mold, wet stains, suspicious moisture problems and condensation on window are mostly found in the buildings before in 2000.86.3% of students reported that there were fewer than 6 times influenza in the last 12 months. The water damage, musty smell and number of window opening<1 times/week are risk factors for influenza(AOR>1,P<0.05).2.1% of students suffering from pneumonia, and the smoking is a risk factor for pneumonia(AOR>1,P<0.01).1.3% of students suffering from tuberculosis, and indoor wet characterization, bad smell and emergence of cockroaches are risk factors of tuberculosis(AOR>1,P<0.05).2% of students with asthma,11.2% of students with allergic rhinitis,9.6% of students with eczema, and indoor wet characterization, bad smell and emergence of cockroaches are risk factors of allergic diseases(AOR>1,P<0.05).The proportion of central nervous system stimulation was highest in sick building syndromes.Followed by mucosal drying, skin allergies and other symptoms.Construction age, humidity, bad smell, smoking, cockroach, green plants, residential density and relative location are risk factors of sick building syndromes(AOR>1,P<0.05).This study explored the relationship between dormitory environment factors and health effects of college students. The investigation results can enhance the understanding for the relationship of dormitory environment and health, and provide an important scientific reference to prevent health problems of college students and improve dormitory environment.
