With the concept of sustainable development becoming widely popular and the technology of computer-aided architectural design being promoted,eco-performance based architectural design,assisted by computer modeling software and building performance simulation software,has drew more attention from architects.Ecological performance of a building has great impact on architectural space shaping,energy-consumption reduction as well as the degree of internal comfort.Research shows that a good design of daylighting can significantly reduce the consumption of illumination and air-conditioning related energy,especially for office buildings,which contribute to a large proportion of nowadays construction,and have great potential on energy-saving.Which method shall be taken to more efficiently draw daylight into large-depth and broad-size office buildings to improve comfort level and to save energy has attracted much of architects' attention.Factors that determine the form of an office building may come from base shape,interior space,and considerations of certain cultural indications.It is an important strategy to achieve eco-performance through architectural design.The form of a building determines the area of contact between the surface and its surrounding environment,and how to bring more daylight into the interior through variation of architectural form,under the condition that all relationships within a building being properly dealt with,is the subject of this thesis.The main content of this thesis includes enhancing indoor daylighting by embedding inner courtyard into multistory office building,and discussion of different architectural forms' influence,especially that of courtyard forms,on the daylighting quality of a building.Grasshopper a plug-in based on Rhino platform is used as the parameterized design platform throughout the research process of this thesis,and the DIVA plug-in of GH is used as the daylighting performance simulation platform.Through forming,simulating and optimizing an architectural form with better daylighting is derived.Based on the above analysis and research,the architectural design method based on the generative architectural design theory is bringing new insights to interior daylighting design,and can effectively combine building design methods and computer software platforms,providing architects with a convenient and effective way through which lighting can be integrated in the early design stage of a program,thus avoiding the "later amendment" kind of architectural lighting design;and with this method,the possibility of taking the day lighting optimization principle as an important criterion for the generation and selection of programs is explored.This thesis is based on the day lighting-research part of the NNSF(National Natural Science Foundation of China)supported project 'Research on the Ecological Performances Based Generative System for Architectural Conceptual Design'(Grant NO.E080101),hosted by Professor Ji Guohua of Nanjing University School of Architecture and Urban Planning,and it aims to explore a set of generative architectural design and optimization methods based on parametric design platform-Rhino and Grasshopper,within the constraint of daylighting.
