As is known to us,it is mainly due to harsh climate conditions,the high growth rate of population and the serious pollution of water resource that the global water shortage is becoming increasingly severe.Therefore,many countries in the world have developed different storm-water management systems according to their own condition.In this thesis not only the character of most effective storm-water management systems in the world will be discussed,but also the keys to their success: Low Impact Development(LID),Water-Sensitive Urban Design(WSUD),Sustainable Drainage System(SuDS).As successful examples,Australia WSUD focuses more on improving utilization rate of water resources,while United Kingdom SuDS under their own condition focuses more on ecological approach to minimize the impacts of urban runoff.The challenges for the sustainable urban storm-water management in China is also considerable.The development of sponge city as our storm-water management system is so far thriving,but the research on our System still lacking clear structure and comprehensive understanding.So it is necessary and important to us to learn the advantages of the effective storm-water management systems by comparing.In this thesis the status of our drainage system Spongy City will be analysed and then some proposals will be offered,which related to technologies for construction,hydrological control,evaluation system of storm-water and the polices.
