Sliding bearings are widely used in various types of machines, which can be seen from small engines to large turbines. In terms of environmental protection and economy,it is necessary to make the machinery operate normally with less power loss. Therefore, researchers have used many methods to reduce the energy loss so that the bearings can work more efficiently. The application of surface texture to bearing is one of the ways to improve the performance of bearing. In this paper, the sliding bearing is taken as the research object, the texture is applied on the surface of the bearing bush, and the effect of the geometric parameters and position distribution of the surface texture on the lubrication performance of the bearing is investigated by numerical simulation:(1)According to the geometry, mathematical models of the surface texture with three kinds of shape(ellipsoid, cylinder, cubic)and two kinds of sliding bearings are established.Based on the Reynolds equation, two cavitation models(Reynolds cavitation model,P-? mass-conserving model)are used to solve the oil film pressure of the textured sliding bearing, and then the various performance parameters of bearing can be obtained.(2)The numerical simulation of infinitely wide parallel sliding bearing and radial sliding bearing are performed by respectively using the Reynolds cavitation model and the P-? mass-conserving model.Compared with the results from other literatures,it is found that P-? mass-conserving model is closer to the reality than the Reynolds cavitation model. The situation has verified the reliability of P-? model.Based on the P-? model, the influence of cavity pressure on the lubrication performance of the sliding bearings is analyzed.(3)Based on the P-? model, the influence of the groove surface texture on the lubrication performance of the infinite parallel sliding bearing is studied.Firstly, the influence of the entrance length and the depth of the groove on the load capacity of the single groove bearing is investigated. Then when the number of grooves is smaller, the influence of the number and arrangement of the grooves on the load capacity of the bearing is studied. Finally, when the number of grooves is larger, the influence of the texture area ratio, groove length-depth ratio and groove depth on the performance of the bearing with entrance staircase effect and partial texture is investigated.(4)Based on the P-? model, the influence of the pit surface texture on the lubrication performance of radial journal bearing is investigated.Firstly, the influence of the radius, number, depth and distribution position of the spherical pit on the load capacity, friction force and friction coefficient of the bearing is analyzed. Then the influence of the pit area ratio of cylinder pit on the bearing performance is investigated. Finally, the influence of spherical, cylinder and cubic pit on bearing performance under different pit depths is studied.
