With the development of mobile internet and GPS technology,electronic maps have become a common tool for personal travel.Current users’ requirements for clarity,legibility,and interactivity of electronic maps are constantly increasing.It is urgent to establish a multi-scale display model of electronic maps that is more plentiful and more suitable to the recognition of user space.The road network is the main element of the electronic map.The path planning and location services of the electronic map are based on the road network.The rapid development of the urbanization process makes the road network data volume and complexity growing in electronic maps.However,for a long time,the research of electronic maps has focused on multi-scale display models,map load capacity and data organization models,lacking of research on the complexity of electronic map elements.Studying the structural complexity of the road network in different display level,and its relation with display level.It is able to provide theoretical ground for multi-scale representation,multi-scale display model,map quality assessment,map loading,route planning,personal travel,and geographic information services of maps.In this paper,web crawler technology is used to capture the Chengdu’s and Hong Kong’s road network slice data of six display level from the Gaode map.and vectorization to extract the duality maps of road connectivity-based topological connectivity relations for each display level road network.Analyzing general network structural characteristics and structural fractal characteristics of road networks at different level.Calculating the fractal dimension of box coverage,volume structure,and degree volume structure so as to explore the relationship between the above complex network index and fractal dimension values with display level.It was found that the network diameter and the average path length of the road network in the electronic map increased with the increase of the display level.The road network connectivity value,the average degree centrality value,the average closeness centrality value and the average betweenness centrality value decreases as the display level increases.The road networks with different display level have structure fractal small-world and no-scale characteristics.The higher the display level is,the more significant the small-world and non-scale characteristics of the road network are.The structure fractal dimension of the road network of Hong Kong and Chengdu increases with the increase of the display level.
