In recent years,China's aging trend has increased rapidly.Since China has a large aging population, the aging problems have become increasingly severe such as the elderly's empty nesting, disability and reduced mobility. The proportion of the group has increased, and the change in social structure has placed higher demands on the social trends of aging. This project incorporates the concept of barrier-free and inclusive design. Its design scheme is designed for people with mobility impairments.A large proportion of them have obstacles in walking and are prone to fall injuries due to various conditions as well as the physical and psychological burden. As a walking aid tool, the walker enables them to achieve the goal of free walking and realizing self-care in life without the help of family members or nursing staff. However, due to lack of functions, convenience and other factors, various walkers currently available on the market do not meet the actual needs of the elderly well. Therefore, designers need to design a walker that is truelly useful for the elderly. This study was based on the analysis of the physiological and psychological characteristics of elderly and the needs of elderly people for assistive mobility aids. And the theoretical foundation of the study is barrier-free and inclusive design.Through the analysis, this thesis focuses on the advantages and disadvantages of the existing products in China's assistive equipment market. Then, the author conducts an in-depth research by questionnairebased interview research to further explore the inclusive application value of innovative assistive devices. The assistive aids used by the elderly with walking disorders have proposed a new design proposal. The aids based on the concept of barrier-free and inclusive design helps the elderly to travel. The activity space of the elderly has been expanded, and the sense of social participation has also been enhanced. This design and research has filled the gaps in the assisting walking aids market of China, demonstrating the humanistic care of barrier-free and inclusive design.
