| Our country has become a member of the aging society at the end of the 20th century. Then, the number of old person continues to show an upward tendency in fact. Against this background, current status of the market continues to display that the quantity of the product couldn't fulfill the need or requirement of the aged. Quantity and quality could not meet a certain standard also. The problem has attracted the serious attention of our country and people. Particularly in recent years, the design industry commences the researching and development of the product for the elder. Expecting that, the living conditions of them could be improved in the future efficiently.The paper named"The Study on the Barrier-free Design Theory Applied in the Design of Walking- aids Products", The sum total of study on this subject is the walking-aids that it can help the old people to walk,keep the balance,support them weight safely. Through the analysis of the question of the present walking-aids products, a number of problems remain to be solved. Then, introduce the applying of the barrier-free design theory.The thesis contains following five parts:In the first chapter, exordium, explains the background and meaning, research content and methods of the thesis. The second chapter, pay more attention to the situation of the population aging and the condition of their lives in our country. The third chapter, make analysis of the elderly people's physiological and emotional. Especially ,the question of their locomotor system. Then, the last two chapters is the center of the degree paper, decide the theory of the barrier-free design to be the principle of the article, use the method of"SWOT"to explore the unsafe factor and the opportunity of growth. Finally, summarize the principles how to design the walking aids for old people——safety,adaptability,comfortably,accessibly,flexibility."Theory must be combined with practice". I hope that the research of this topic can give inspiration to others.
