The automotive industry as a pillar industry of modern industry,is a direct reflection about a country's level of industrial modernization.Engine is the heart of a vehicle within mechanical parts,with development of advancing of technology year after year.The primary means of engine performance testing is the bench test.The testing process include some minor changes of performance and stability conditions can be detected.Under any engine operating condition.Engine test is not only the indispensable assessment mean of testing the engine's power,economy and reliability,but also the mean of researching,designing,manufacturing of the new engine.Traditional engine test has low level of automation,detection accuracy is poor,is been difficult to keep up with the engine development.In order to adapt to the rapid development of the automotive industry,high level of automation,measurement and control accuracy of the engine test bed is the inevitable trend in future.In this paper,CAT Engine Control System Based on Virtual Instruments,with its high-precision data acquisition hardware and software and powerful PC control function with lower machine PLC control system,instead of the traditional engine test control and data acquisition,which greatly improves the engine test automation and data acquisition accuracy.Engine test bench system consists of three parts: Engine test bench design,PLC control system design,system design CAT based on virtual instrument.By controlling the engine throttle to regulate speed and power,so that the engine can be tested in different conditions.The control precision of engine throttle and power is an important guarantee for high-precision test.Using fuzzy PID parameters to realize high precision engine speed and power control.By the way,PID controller adjusts throttle position,double-loop throttle control make engine speed with high precision and fast response.The measurement accuracy and automation control level of the integrated test system directly affect the reliability of test.Virtual Instrument Technology Data Acquisition System and Industrial PC System use powerful logic calculation and data processing function of computer to improve the accuracy of the test.Powerful and rich control module based on PLC can enhance the stability of control and automation level.The design of new engine test bench based on the theory of comprehensive testing technology.The main design work includes the engine test bench design,engine throttle control system design and control algorithm research,electrical control system hardware selection and control program design,industrial PC system design and Virtual Instrument Data Acquisition System design.
