Due to geographical location,low temperature rural areas in northern generally have poor seismic structure,low strength of the building materials and longer construction period owing to the characteristics of the season.Currently,rural housing is developing towards to standardization and assembly.Steel structure is characterized by component standardization,shorter construction period and easy assembly and so on,it can be seen that the application of steel structure in rural cold areas has significant engineering practical significance.First and foremost,this paper summarizes the countryside or outside the development process of steel structure,combines "localized" building materials in cold areas,and analyzed the light steel frame system and cold-formed thin-walled light steel keel system which are more suitable for the cold areas.Secondly,based on Linear static analysis,seismic performance,interlayer displacement,deflection,anti-overturning and other features of the two kinds of structure are finished.According to the actual situation of the project,the relevant engineering design experience,the corresponding design specifications and structural analysis results,a further structural optimization design is carried out,and the steel and the economic comparison of the two sets of structural schemes are conducted.It is concluded that the optimized load path of the cold-formed thin-walled steel keel structure is more clear,the standardization of structural components can be improved obviously,the combination of lightweight grass brick and light steel skeleton is conducive to the reduction of residential comprehensive cost,and the comprehensive cost is basically the same as that of the ordinary masonry structure in the cold region.So the cold areas of rural housing should be preferred to use the optimized cold-formed thin-walled light steel keel structure.
