The heavy rings for high temperature alloy materials(GH4169)are important case parts of aero-engine,which are given high position accuracy and strict sizes. The heavy rings are divided into integral and welded on structure. As typical parts series, research about efficient manufacturing process and numerically controlled machining project is necessary, and will provide reference for similar parts on machining process and programmed machining.Taking military aircraft engines of all series as research objects, materials, structural characteristics and assembly requirements are taken into account to control the deformation of heavy rings.Problems in manufacturing, assembly and engine test are collected and influences caused by the difference of structure are considered when process stress and deformation are measured and analyzed. Then feasible project is put forward including clamping and modular process specification comes up.The modular process specification can be copied and used by similar parts efficiently with the application of PDM.The effect of different cutting routes, structures and materials of tools and cutting parameters are tested and compared before reasonable CNC project is determined.UG and Vericut are applied to the simulation of manufacturing and establishment of CNC machining database, which refers to other similar parts.Improvements in process routes, positioning fixture and NC machining are proved effective to control deformation and machining accuracy of size and Position degrees in an acceptable level. Finally products which meet the design requirements including qualified circular runout and machining accuracy of diameter in free state are provided, which makes the assembly and engine test much steadier.
