To study the impact of oxygen-adding irrigation on the growth, physiology, and yield of hybrid rice. Two types of oxygenation had been performed on the super rice "Shenyou 9516" in the Yunyuan Experimental Base of Hunan Agricultural University. The study found that both mechanical and chemical oxygenations promoted root and plant growth. The oxygenation groups, compared to the control groups, saw a larger root number. The mechanical oxygenation group A6 saw real roots up to 75% of the total root number but only 62% of the control groups. The findings were that mechanical oxygenation worked more effectively at night. Among all the mechanical oxygenation groups, Group A4 identified the best aeration method, in which four minutes of oxygenation were performed at 20:00 every night.Oxygenation, in the heading stage, saw stable but slightly declining content of phosphor in the Super Rice. The control groups, for which no oxygenation performed, saw a declining content of phosphor and premature aging of the root system in the later stage of growth. Group A3, among all groups, saw highest nutritive element content in the root system.Parameters, such as panicle number per plant, grain number per panicle, and 1000-grain weight, contributed significantly to the yield of the Super Rice. Statistical analysis revealed that the impact of oxygenation was, mainly, on the panicle number per plant, which mainly correlated to the number of productive tillers per plant. The oxygenation groups all saw a larger number of productive tiller per plant than those of the control groups. The comparison between the ratios between the number of productive tiller per plant and the total tiller number revealed the following:Group A 1-87.0%, Group A2-91.7%, Group A3-88.5%, Group A4-88.7%, Group A5-85.7%, Group A6-84.6%, Group B 1-90.2%, Group B2-88.6%, Group B3-87.5%, Group CK-77.8%. Highest ratio was found in Group A2.
