The aims of this study were to solve some small fruit and low yield problems turned out in the growth progress of Feijoa introducted from New Zealand.Field measurements combining with the laboratory tests was used to study the growth characteristics and pollination vectors of Feijoa.Comparing the different pollination methods and growth regulators to screen out the suitable Feijoa varieties in MianYang rigion and suitable pollination techniques for the screened varieties.1.The branches of Unique were soft,the tree was typical drape shape,self-pollination can set fruit,with more flowering,fruit set number was higher than other varieties.Although the fruit of Unique was small,the yield was higher than other varieties,reaching 8.14kg,early maturity.At the seem time,the fruit of Unique also had the thin peel,edible rate,soluble solids content was higher(up to 12.66%),high content of soluble sugar(14.93 mg/g),titratable acid content was low(0.33 mg/g),sugar acid ratio(47.30),taste sweet,rich flavor,high quality features.So Unique was the fruit inside and outside the quality and comprehensive traits were excellent varieties.Coolidge had a high fruit set(1.61 times lower fruit rate),fruit(25.67g),single plant yield of 5.96 kg(second only to Unique).In addition,Coolidge's soluble solids content was also high,can reach 12.60%.So Unique and Coolidge was more suitable for growth in the Mianyang region of the varieties of Feijoa.2.The main Feijoa pollinators in China were the bees,birds,beetles and a small amount of ants and flies,etc..According to the observed number of visits,the sort was following:bees>ants>birds>flies.The closer was the distance between the beehive and Feijoa.The most visit period per day was 8:00am.-13:00pm.and the bees were most active in the full-bloom stage.3.Different varieties of Feijoa need different varieties of pollen pollination to improve the fruit yield and quality of the effect was different.Which Opal Star as a male parent with Unique pollination:The fruit yield was 59.22 g(about 2 times of the control).The yield per plant was 7.11 kg as a control of 2.5 times.The edible rate was 55.53%,which was 1.43 times higher than that of the control.The soluble solids were second only to Coolidge(46.76%).Opal Star as the male parent and Coolidge pollination:Opal Star diameter of about 57.30 mm.transverse diameter(45.31 mm),both were significantly greater than other pollination treatment had the juicy pulp,soluble solids of 13.9%,soluble sugar content of 11.93 mg/g,etc.These indicators were higher than the control,which were proved that the pollination treatment of Opal star as male parent and Coolidge was more suitable for pollination combinations.Unique for the male and Coolidge pollination:yield of more than 5kg per plant,fruit set rate than the control increased by 25.00%,soluble solids was 1.15 times the control.In general,Opal Star as a male parent with Unique and Coolidge pollination:fruit set rate was not high,but the fruit weight,the yield per plant was high,and the fruit quality was better,in addition,Unique and Coolidge positive and negative pollination combination in promoting Feijoa's fruit set and improve the fruit quality had a certain role in promoting.4.After the plant growth regulator treatment,the fruit yield,fruit weight and yield of the fruit were increased compared with the control.The results of fruit setting,fruit weight and yield per plant were as follows:Plant growth regulator>CPPU>GA3>CK.The effect of spraying two times of plant growth regulators was better than that of single application,and the effect of fruit weight and yield per plant was significant,and the application of 2 times 10 mg/L CPPU was 1.60 times.Two times of 20 mg/L GA3 significantly increased the yield per plant to 12.08 g,which was 1.63 times that of one application.The effect of GA3 and CPPU mixed spraying was good,10 mg/L CPPU,10 mg/L GA3 could significantly improve Feijoa's fruit set and single fruit weight and yield.The results were significantly lower than those of 20 mg/L CPPU with high concentration of 20 mg/L GA3,and the effect was significantly higher than that of control(P<0.05).Plant growth regulators could inhibit thicken skin which was rich in stone cells.The appropriate concentration of CPPU treatment could increase fruit weight and increase yield.High concentration of CPPU treatment could increase the fruit weight,but the flavor and nutritional quality were reduced.
