Serica orientalis Motschulsky, former named as Maladera orientails Motschulsky, which belongs to Coleoptera Melolonthidae, was a polyphagous insects and feed on 149 spieces of plants. It was an important graden plant pests widely distributed in China.Adults ate a large number of young leaves and germ, which would cause high mortality in saplings and seedings. This study take S.orientalis as the research object, observing the antennal sensilla of male and female adults by a scanning electron microscope,it was going to confirm the type, quantity and distrubution of male and female sensilla, and whether there was a sexual dimorphism.Head space dynamic adsorption methord was used in the collection of green leaf volatiles in 6 spieces post, and GC-MS methord was used to analyze the component and relative content of each host plant volatiles. The active compounds for female adults in host volatiles was identified by GC-EAD methord. The EAG and Y-tube olfactormeter were applied to test electorphysiology and behavior response to 10 standard volatile compounds, this research could provide a theoritical basis for chemecology prevention and developping plant resource attractant or avoidtant in the pest control. The results of the study were as follows:The antenna of S.orientalis consists of scape, pedicel and flagellomere that was composed of funicle and lamellae.Funicle is divided into five segments and lamellae into three segments.Five types of sensilla were found on the antennae of both sexes, sensilla trichodea, sensilla chaetica,B?hm bristles, sensilla coeloconica and sensilla basiconca. No differences were found in number, type and distribution of sensilla between the male and female adults. The distribution and abundance of each type of sensillum were different among segments. Each host plant volatiles formed the chemical fingerprint through a certain composition and proportion. There was a large number of six carbon atorms of alcohols, aldehydes, eaters and their derivatives, also a small amount of terpenoids in the 6 kinds of host plants green leaf volatiles. On one hand, the compounds which could cause electorphysiology response in female adults were including Z-3-Hexenol,E-3-Hexenol,E-2-Hexenal,Z-3-Hexenyl acetate,Methyl benzoate and Methyl salicylate, they were normal green leaf volatiles components and secondary metabolitesexisted in all host plants volatiles. On the other hand,1-Hexenol,Z-3-Hexenyl butyrate and 1-Octen-3-ol from Syzygium aromaticum, and 6-methyl-3,5-heptadien-2-one from Ulmus pumila also could cause electorphysiology response in female adults. In the electrophysiology response of female adults to 10 standard componds in different concentration, when the concentration was 10?g/?L,all compounds could cause obvious EAG response and significant difference, which on the reaction of 1-Hexenol value was maimum 3.88±0.37 and Methyl benzoate value was minimum 1.17±0.13;With the componds content is lower, the EAG response value decreased, and the difference between 10 standard compounds also changed. The result of behavior response showed that choice reaction rate >10% of shtandard compounds were consist of 6-methyl-3,5-Pentadiene-2-one,Linalool,Z-3-Hexenol and E-3-Hexenol,the female adults didn't show a strong choice perference among the 10 standard compound.
