The objective of this experiment is to study relationship between early growth and development,body weight and body size,slaughter performance and meat quality of house-feeding Yuxi fat-tailed sheep.The body weight,body size,slaughter and meat quality were determined.The relationship between body weight and body size,Slaughter performance and meat quality characteristics were analyzed.The results shows:1.The growth intensity of the male and female lambs that a new strain of Yuxi fat-tailed sheep was the highest at the age of 3 months,and the daily gain increased rapidly after 4 months of age.The Weight Gain of sheep was close to linear,and the weight and age of rams are:Y= 4.265x-0.0771(R~2= 0.9909),Y= 4.4343x-0.0443(R~2=0.9921),the ewes: Y = 4.265x-0.0771(R~2= 0.9909),Y is the weight,x is the age.2.The optimal regressive equation of body weight and main body size of male sheep was: Y=0.154X3+1.278X4+0.182X6+7.427(R2= 0.721);The female sheep was: Y=0.093X2+0.102X3+2.373X4+0.206X6 +7.876(R2= 0.834).3.The slaughter performance of new strains of Yuxi fat-tailed sheep is better than that of the ewes,and the muscle shear force and Fe content in muscle were significantly higher than that of ewes(P<0.01),and the diameter of muscle fiber was significantly higher than that of ewes(P<0.05);There were no significant differences in the contents of normal nutrients,amino acids and fatty acids between male and female(P > 0.05);The average slaughter rate was 42.39%,the cooked meat rate was 53.51%;the moisture content in the muscle was 74.61%,the crude fat content was 3.19%,the crude protein content was 18.74%,the ash content was 0.95%,the mineral Cu content was 2.62 mg/kg,Fe was 93.33 mg/kg,Mn was 2.33 mg/kg,Zn was 113.99 mg/kg,Mg was 1097.04 mg/kg(dry matter basis);essential amino acid content of 38.34%,non-essential amino acid content of 38.02 %,amino acid total of 76.35%(dry matter basis);saturated fatty acid content of 40.65%,unsaturated fatty acid was 54.91%.The weight of new strains of Yuxi fat-tailed sheep increased rapidly after 4 month old.The regression equation between body size and body weight showed that: In the future breeding,we should pay attention to body length indexes such as body length,chest circumference,tube circumference and tail width that affect the body weight of the main body index.The female sheep was better than that of the male,and the amino acid and mineral content of the ram were slightly higher than that of the ewes.The overall index of meat quality is at a high level in meat lambs,with good lamb development potential.
