As we know,China is the largest grain producer and consumer in the world,and it stores abundant grain for national economic development.But there are giant grain losses caused by grain pests,so the pest control has essential significance for reducing loss and ensuring the security of grain storage.As it’s increasingly obvious that chemical control methods bring many problems about environmental pollution and resistance,the demand for application of non-chemical method for pest control in grain storage becomes urgent and practical.The color tendency of insects is one of the main features of insect due to their evolutionary process,and the control method based on color tropism of pest is non-toxic and environmentally friendly.This research was based on the green grain storage technology,focusing on seven major grain pests(the book lice,elepant insects,castaneum class,lesser grain borer,Indian meal moth etc.).We tried to explore the tendency reaction for color and technology of applying the Sticky Colored Card in the pest trapping.In this essay,we studied natural activity pattern and tendency for different colors of these pests,practical application of glue board with color monitoring pests in laboratory and grain silo of several storage enterprises systematically.In addition,we built the trapping technology of Sticky Colored Card based on color tendency of pests,and proved its promising development about control of storage grain pest in the actual production process.The results are showed below:1.The insect activity naturally seemed oriented.Insect had on a distinct tendency to specific color.The natural activity of rice,maize weevil,red flour beetle,confused flour beetle,book louse and colorless booklice were all influenced by both the geomagnetic field and light intensity.Among them,the red flour beetle showed strong tendency towards east and north when the light source was at the northeast,confused flour beetle towards north,book louse towards east and north,rice weevil towards east and north direction,and maize weevil towards east.The book louse obviously trend to north,while tendency difference between rice,maize weevil,red flour beetle,confused flour beetle,colorless booklice and India meal moth on all direction were not significant.2.These insect had on a distinct tendency to specific color.Red flour beetle significantly like red and black,and showed the color trend to red,black,orange,purple,pink,yellow,green,blue in the order of big to small.Confused flour beetle like blue most,and its color trend is blue,black and purple,pink and orange and red,green,yellow in consequence.While Book louse like red most,and prefer red,black and pink,yellow and orange,green,blue and purple orderly.Colorless booklice tried to avoid orange,purple,yellow,green remarkably,but trend to black and pink.For rice weevil,red and blue are attractive,and they trend to blue and red,green,Black and Pink and orange,yellow and purple in the order of big to small.Maize weevil liked red most,and its color trend was red,black,purple,green and blue and orange and pink,yellow.Indian meal moth liked gray more than other colors,and its trend to color is gray,black,blue,yellow,red and purple and white,green.3.It’ s promising that putting trap technology into the use of monitoring and control storage pests.Compared with corrugated board method and GB sample screening,the Sticky Colored Card is relatively simple to operate,and could attract more species of pests.Especially it was able to trap flying pests with larger size.Thus it can be applied to monitoring,prediction and prevention of grain pest.4.Trap technology could be used to research the dynamic pattern of grain pest.By using Glue Board,we monitored pests’ activity in southern China,and found that the activity frequency of book lice is related with temperature and humidity inside the silo.There is a relatively quiet time for both book lice at 12:00 o’clock,when it’s humid.While there were two peak periods of citivity at night.This study confirmed the activity frequency and high dynamic sites of pests,providing the basic data support for the integrated pest management.After the further research and improvement,the study can be applied to the monitoring,forewarning,prevention of storage grain pests and other aspects.Because of the non-toxic and environmentally friendly features,this thchnology surely will be widely used for protection of grain storage.
