With the grave shortage of world energy and with the increasing demand for cassava product,the farming pattern has been adjusted at home and abroad,which extends the planting cassava acreage.However,the harvesting lever of mechanization hasn't been improved.At the present,most of harvest work of cassava was completed by manual work,and only a few harvesters were put into use but with simple functions,low techniques,high labor intensity as well as low efficiency.Owing to the feature of cassava structure,mechanizing the harvester is difficult.In addition,the research on the cassava harvesting mechanization is still on the starting step,which limits the full-developed harvester brings into service.In order to reduce the harvesting cost and improve the harvesting efficient,the research on the mechanized harvester must should be strengthen as it is crucial for the domestic cassava industry.In this paper,though reviewing numerous domestic and foreign research literatures about cassava harvester machinery,researching and analyzing the biological characteristics of cassava cultivation in the field,and using the type 4UMS-1 dig and pull type harvester cassava to precede field trials repeatedly,the improved type of high clearance self-propelled cassava harvester has been proposed.The dug-PULL harvesting mechanism is also suit for this machine,mainly including the mining equipment,clamping and conveying device,potato soil separation device,potato stem separation device,hydraulic system,transmission system,walking mechanism etc.And the utility model has the advantages of compact structure,high harvesting efficiency,which enable a series of processes including cassava's excavation,soil separation and loading can be completed.The main research contents are as follows:(1)Aiming at the situations of the stem leakage clip and clamping mechanism is easy to be blocked during 4UMS-1 digging cassava harvester pulling in field trials,a suggestion for increasing the ground clearance of the harvesting machine are proposed to improve reserved cassava stalk length and increase clamping success rate.At the same time,according to the design requirements,the structure and function of the high ground clearance self walking cassava harvester are determined,and the working parameters were proposed.(2)Though the modeling for frame part by three-dimensional software Creo,using ANSYS Workbench to carry on the static analysis,analyzing the stress and displacement of the frame under different conditions and combined with the frame strength theory,the design's strength is to be tested whether to meet the requirements of the product.(3)In this paper,finite element analysis and multi rigid body dynamic method are used to model the frame of the key parts of the harvester.Assembled into the vehicle rigid&flexible coupling model in ADAMS,two pavement models were established,and the dynamic stress change of the frame of the harvester was analyzed through numerical simulation,and the strength design of the frame was further checked to meet the design requirements.
