Land Quality Geochemical Assessment is a comprehensive project, which mainly focuses on soil geochemical survey, and also conducts atmospheric, irrigation water and crop geochemical survey. The assessment of this project is guided by the theories of ecological geochemistry, and it aims to scientifically quantify the land quality, achieve to manage date dynamically and make it easier to query and use the data.Geochemical indicators such as soil nutrient beneficial elements, soil heavy metal elements, atmospheric dry and wet deposition and irrigation water, were used to assess the geochemical grade of land quality. This study analyzed the geochemical characteristics of soil nutrient elements and soil environmental elements, for the prime farmland protection area in Qingyang, and further defines the soil nutrient as well as soil environment geochemical grade of this study area.On these basis, the geochemical comprehensive grades of soil quality will be determined by superimposing the above datas. With the environmental geochemical indexes such as atmospheric dry and wet deposition, irrigation water and rice seed, land quality geochemical assessment was completed. The results indicate that the comprehensive condition of soil nutrient behaves well in the study area, with majority of the geochemical comprehensive grades of soil nutrient ranking ? and III amounting to 46.30% and 47.56%,it further shows that the soil nutrient content of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in the topsoil of the whole study area is suitable and fertile. However somewhere of the study area is lack of soil nutrients, mainly concentrated in the partial areas such as northeastern and eastern Muzhen Town, northern Dingqiao Town,it recommended that the mentioned areas above should increase the amount of phosphate and potash appropriately. The soil environment in the study area is in good condition, with major of the geochemical comprehensive grades of soil environmental ranking ?and ?,accounting for 60.93% and 34.77% respectively, totaling up to 95.70%.Furthermore,there is a small amount of contaminated farmland, with grades ? and ?,which is about 4.30% of the area. They are in the northern area of the country, distributing along the Qixinghe river basin,so the seriousness of soil pollution in these areas is worthy of urgent attentions. In the study area, the majority geochemical assessment of land quality grades are I,? and III,accounting for 26.54%,31.24% and 37.78% respectively, there is a small number of inferior field, which grades are ? and ?,with an area of 3.81% and 0.63% respectively. The inferior farmland is scattered in part of Xinhe Town and Yangtian Town.As a whole, the geochemical assessment grade of land quality in the south of the study area is superior to that in the northern region.Based on the assessment results of the study area, the rice planting suitability evaluation, the safety of heavy metal pollution evaluation in rice grains, and the identification of heavy metal sources in soil were carried out to enhance the practical value of this study.
