The cultivated land quality in Changping District, Beijing was evaluatedsupported by RS&GIS technology and soil science knowledge, and theclassification results were applied to demarcate high standard prime farmland inChangping District. Two multi-temporal TM satellite remote sensing imagery wereselected to extract Changping’s land use information by stratified classificationmethod and Mask analysis, and the results showed the method had a higheraccuracy.Based on soil field-survey data, TM imagery on18thNovember in2010was selected as data source to build retrieved model by analysing the correlationbetween the SOM samples and spectral reflect characteristic, with which the SOMspatial distribution were predicted, the accuracy of the model were tested. Cultivatedland evaluation database was established in ArcGIS10.0with spatial data such ascultivated land distribution data, SOM data, etc.The cultivated land in ChangpingDistrict was evaluated. Combined with cultivated land field-survey data, regressionanalysis results indicated that the evaluation results were reliable. At last, primefarmland was demarcated to construct high standard prime farmland in ChangpingDistrict based on cultivated land distribution data, cultivated land evaluation results.
