Objective: Observing the influence of electroacupuncture to pathological changes of facial nerve recovery and the survival rate of neurons, Cyto-c expression of rabbit,to study the recovery mechanism of electroacupuncture treatment of facial nerve injury,further to elaborate portion mechanism about electroacupuncture treatment of facial paralysis in the recovery stage,to provide some theoretical basis for treating of this disease in clinical. Methods: 50 healthy adult New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into five groups according to gender and weight:blank control group,the sham operation group, model group, acupuncture group and electroacupuncture group,with ten rats each group.To evaluate the curative effect 4 weeks after surgery and analyze the data by statistical method.Results: After treatment the acupuncture group and electroacupuncture group facial score before and after and between the model group all were statistically significant(P < 0.05). The survival rate of neurons: 1. Acupuncture group and electroacupuncture group of neurons survival rate were higher than in the model group(P < 0.05), with statistical significance; 2 Eelectroacupuncture group was better than the acupuncture group(P < 0.05), with statistical significance. The number of axons per unit area:1.acupuncture group and electroacupuncture group were higher than those in the model group(P < 0.05), with statistical significance; 2.The Electroacupuncture group was higher than that in the acupuncture group(P <0.05), with statistical significance. The number of Cyto-C positive cells :1.In the acupuncture group and electroacupuncture group were significantly less than the model group(P < 0.05), with statistical significance; 2.Electroacupuncture group is less than acupuncture group(P < 0.05), with statistical significance.Conclusion: Electroacupuncture may through down-regulation the neuronal cell bodies of Cyto-C to prevent caspase cascade reaction, inhibition of the mitochondrial pathway in the apoptosis, promote neuronal survival and axonal regeneration, so as to promote the recovery of rabbit facial nerve injury; Electroacupuncture Treatment of peripheral facial paralysis rehabilitation period curative effect exact, suitable for clinical application.
