A hydrophilic sugar functional monomer containing double bond was synthesized using glucose and hydroxyl ethyl acrylate as raw materials and using ethylenediamine as an intermediate coupling segment. Their chemical structures were characterized by FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopy, respectively. The hemocompatibility of polyurethane(PU) films surface was improved after the unsaturated sugar functional monomer was grafted on the surface PU films by the means of UV-induced free radial polymerization. The surface of polyurethane films functionalized by the unsaturated sugar-based functional monomer was confirmed by ATR-FTIR measurements. The platelet adhesion and red blood cells adhesion measurements were used to evaluate the hemocompatibility of the modified films. The adhesion amount of platelet was reduced from 14.36×103 cells/mm2 to cells/mm2. The adhesion amount of red blood cell was reduced from 2.61×103 cells/mm2 to 0.34×103 cells/mm2. The results show that the modified polyurethane films possesses the excellent inhibit platelet adhesion, red blood cells adhesion and better blood compatibility. The antibacterial and antifouling properties of medical nonwoven fabric polypropylene(PPNWF) were synthesized with vinyl pyrrolidone(NVP) as antifouling agent and polyhexamethylene guanidine hydrochloride(PHMG) as antibacterial agent, respectively. Both vinylpyrrolidone and glycidyl methacrylate(GMA) were grafted onto the PPNWF by the means of UV-induced free radical polymerization. The antimicrobial agent was introduced into the PPNWF by the reaction of the epoxy group of GMA with the amino groups of PHMG. The chemical structure of modified PPNWF was confirmed by ATR-FTIR and XPS analyses. The dynamic water contact angle, bacteria, platelets and red blood cells adhesion experiments were used to evaluate the hydrophilicity, antibacterial, sterilization and hemocompatibility of the functionalized PPNWF films, respectively. The modified PPNWF by NVP only has antibacterial adhesion performance, but it is without bactericidal properties while the bacteria have been adhered to the surface. The modified PPNWF with PHMG can kill bacteria colonization, but it does not prevent bacteria adhered to the surface, so it resulting in a large number of dead bacteria to be covering the film. The PPNWF functionalized with NVP and PHMG possesses excellent antibacterial, antiseptic properties, good performance of antiplatelet and red blood cell adhesion.
