Conclusion On Clinical Practice Of Chinese Medicine And Acupuncture Upon Patients With Infertility

Objective:The rate of infertility is on-going to be increasing recent year.It is now a common situation,which was considered as rare situation.In addition,the number of high age pregnancy is also increasing.This study compared the combined therapy of medical measures of Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture with the therapy of pure medical measures of TCM.By comparing differences on fertility rate,rate of live-birth,miscarriage rate and the length of time needed for fertility of 2 groups,we tried to demonstrate the combined therapy may be superior to the pure medical measures by improving the rate of pregnancy,reducing the length of therapy,reducing the cost of treatment and reducing the side effects.We also tried to discuss our opinions on clinical practices,that the combined therapy is also practical,worth to be promoted in clinical practice.Methods:The medical notes from the database of Guang Yang TCM health Center between July,2004 to October,2015 were screened out the objects suitable for this study.The objects screened out were infertile patients,who met the diagnostic criteria,the criteria for the groups.According to the medical records,the patients were then divided into 2 groups by their different therapy received,one were those received only medical measures,while another group were those received combined therapy of medical measures and acupuncture.Patients of both groups were adjuvanted with the "dietary therapy","external therapy".IV Then their results about pregnancy after therapy(rate of pregnancy,rate of live birth,rate of miscarriage),the length of therapy needed,the accompanying symptoms(dysmenorrhea,pain of breast,improvement of the cycles)was compared between the 2 groups.By comparing the above results,the efficacy and efficiency of the both therapies was analyzed,to demonstrated the advantages of each.This may properly further prove the combined therapy has its own advantages over the pure medical measure of TCM.Results:After the therapy,the result of 2 groups was as follow:among the 115 infertile patients,there were 65 patients successful got pregnant,the rate of pregnancy of the whole study was 57%.Among the group of pure medical measures of TCM,there were totally 60 cases,where 32 of them were successfully got pregnant,53%in percentage.Among the combined therapy of medical measure and acupuncture,there were totally 55 cases,where 33 of them were successfully got pregnant,or 60%in percentage.Comparing the rate of live birth and rate of miscarriage after therapy among 2 groups,we found that:in those 60 cases of receiving pure medical therapy,there were 29 cases of live-birth,3 cases of miscarriage,and 28 cases not get pregnant,or 48%,5%,and 47%in percentage,respectively,while in those 55 cases of receiving combined therapy,there were 30 cases of live-birth,3 cases of miscarriage,and 22 cases not getting pregnant,or 55%,5%,40%in percentage,respectively.For the group of pure medical therapy,the average time of therapy needed for conceive was 9.06 months among the 32 cases of pregnancy,while in the group of combined therapy the average time of therapy needed for conceive was 8.5 months among the 33 cases of pregnancy.Although there were some patients did not get pregnant,they received some improvement in their menstruation abnormality.Patients with latent periods received the best improvement.There were 52 cases of latent periods,which 24 cases were from the group of pure medical therapy,having 4 of them recovered,or 17%,17 cases reported improved,rate of improvement were 71%,while 28 cases were from the group of combined therapy,having 7 of them recovered,or 25%,and 21 cases improved,or 75%.There were improvement among para-period symptoms,especially the dysmenorrhea.There were 84 cases of dysmenorrhea totally,43 cases were from pure medical group,10 of them were recovered,31 of them improved,or 23%and 72%respectively,41 cases were from the combined therapy group,while 17 cases were recovered,23 cases improved,or in 41%and 56%respectively.Conclusion:There were varies pathophysiology and causes of infertility in women,including Xu and shi syndromes,which may even happen in same time may found in clinical practices.There are special view on it from the TCM.TCM emphasize the integrity of human and "therapy according to Syndromes",and the therapy varies among individuals,or among "syndromes".From or study,we found that combining medical measures of TCM and acupuncture had improved the rate of pregnancy,rate of live-birth and reduced the rate of miscarriage.The time needed for therapy is shorter in group of combined therapy than that in group of pure medical measures.In the cases of infertility with dysmenorrhea,breast pain during period,the combined therapy also showed its advantages over the pure medical therapy.Combined therapy also showed advantages over pure medical therapy in treating the period problems.However,many factors(including the environmental reasons,and the emotional causes)can affect the result of treatment.There were a lot of unknown and unexplained parts in its pathophysiology.Further studies were needed in future.
