Study Of HPV Types Testing And Their Relationship With Clinical Characteristics Of Adult Patients With Plantar Warts

Objective To detect human papilloma virus(HPV)types in adult patients with plantar warts and to explore distribution of HPV types and their relationship with clinical features of chinese adult patients.Methods Use Polymerase Chain Reaction(PCR)technique to detect HPV types in specimens obtained from 221 adult patients with plantar warts;Use TA cloning technology to differentiate types in mixed infection,meanwhile records the detail features of patients including age,duration,symptoms and number of warts and analyze the association between HPV types and clinical features of patients.Results HPV DNA was detected in 215(97%)specimens.This study detected a total of three "genus" and five "species"(The fourth and eighth species in alpha genus,The first species in gamma genus,The first and second species in mu genus),and a total of seven types(HPV27,57,63,65,1,2,7).The number of single HPV type infection were 206(96%).The detected types were HPV 27,2,57,7(Alpha genus),HPV 65(Gamma genus),HPV 1,63(Mu genus),and they accounted for 44.7%,12.1%,7.3%,0.5%,0.5%,33.5%,1.5%,respectively.Mixed infection occupied 4.0%(9/215).They were mixed with HPV 1/27,HPV1/2,HPV 2/27 and HPV1/2/27,respectively.These combination accounted for 55.6%(5/9),22.2%(2/9),11.1%(1/9)and 11.1%(1/9)respectively.The most common combination was HPV 1/27.Distribution of single type infection was similar to that calculated according to the proportion weighting method.22 cases were mosaic warts and they were all single types infection.These types which were composed of HPV 27,2,1,7,57 and 63 accounted for 50.0%(11/22),22.7%(5/22),13.6%(3/22),4.5%(1/22),4.5%(1/22)and 4.5%(1/22),respectively.Clinical features of patients infected with HPV 27,2 and 57,such as median age,duration,number of warts,incidence of pain and gender have no significant difference with each other.Patients infected with HPV 27 were related to age >30 years old,duration >1 year,warts number >2 and low incidence of pain,which was similar to patients infected withα Genus,while patients infected with HPV 1 were related to age ≤30 years old,duration ≤1 year,number of warts ≤2 and high incidence of pain and these characteristics are basically as same as those infected with μ genus.Conclusions HPV27,2,57 and 1 are the most prevalent HPV types in Chinese adult patients with plantar warts.The clinical characteristics of patients infected with HPV 1 and 27 are quite different.Closely relationship exists between HPV types and clinical features.
