Objective:To compare the cancer efficacy and complication of transrectal prostate biopsy and transperineal prostate biopsy.Materials and methods:270 patients undertake prostate biopsy in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University between 2013 and 2014 were randomly selected in our study.Clinical data was collected via electronic medical record system and analyzed. Results:Overall positivity of transrectal prostate biopsy was 42.22%(57/135),overall positivity of transperineal prostate biopsy was 44.44%(60/135).The overall positivity of transrectal prostate biopsy and transperineal prostate biopsy were similar(P>0.05).There was no significant difference between the positivity of subgroups divided by PSA level and age.The Gleason score of transrectal prostate biopsy and transperineal prostate biopsy were similar(P>0.05).The complication rate of transrectal prostate biopsy was significantly higher than transperineal prostate biopsy(27.41%vs 8.89%,P<0.01).The hematuria rate of transrectal prostate biopsy was significantly higher than transperineal prostate biopsy(21.48%vs 6.67%,P<0.01).The rate of other complications were similar. Conclusion:The detection rate of transrectal prostate biopsy and transperineal prostate biopsy were similar. While the complication rate of transperineal prostate biopsy was significantly lower than transrectal prostate biopsy.
