[Objective] To discuss the effectiveness and security of the common carotid artery with Balloon-expandable stent.[Methods] 52 patients with symptomatic common carotid artery stenosis(> 70%)confirmed by cerebral CT angiography and DSA was treated by endovascular stent.34 males,18 females, aged 52 ~ 79 years,mean(65.39±8.97).Patients received examinations(include blood biochemical tests?CT or MRI ? CTA and DSA)before procedure, all of them were scored by NIHSS at admission and discharge,NASCET standard was performed to assess vascular stenosis. In local anesthesia,Femoral arteriopuncture with modified Selding, then artery scabbard was inseted.Under the 0.035 inch inch mini-guide wire, the ball-expand stent was placed in the stenosis, observed periprocedural complication.[Results] CAS of the common carotid artery stenosis was achieved in 52 patients,51 stents were placed, operation achievement ratio was 98.08%.All procedures were performed without use of cerebral protection. The complication rate was 5.77%,which included 1 case happened massive cerebral infarctionbecause the middle cerebral artery was occluded;after operation 2 cases occurred cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome;1 case failed.NIHSS score ?Vascular stenosis rate were respectively displaced as following(6.21±2.20,2.25±1.80,P<0.05)?(87.90%±7.60%,8.40%±2.30%,P<0.05),there was significant difference before and after stenting.[Conclusion] Balloon-expandable stent of symptomatic common carotid artery origin stenosis is effective and safe procedure associated with low risk and good short-term results.
