Background: The diagnosis of esophageal cancer is based on the clinical manifestation, imaging diagnosis and biopsy. And tumor markers in diagnosis and prognosis are in poor specificity. Many studies have reported that oxidative stress in many kinds of tumors play an important role in the development, and oxidative stress related indicators, such as the total antioxidant status(total antioxidant status,TAS),the total oxidation status(total oxidant status,TOS)and oxidative stress index(oxidative stress index,OSI)expression in the blood of patients compared to healthy people have different degrees of increase or decrease. The expression level was correlated with the prognosis and staging of the disease. However, there were few reports about the combined determination of esophageal cancer, and there were even few reports on the detection between oxidative stress index and YB-1 protein. Objective: comparing the expression level of serum oxidative stress parameters between patients with esophageal cancer and healthy people’s expression level. The smoking history, drinking history, treatment effect and clinical stage in patients with EC are included together. And to examine the relationship between the expression level of YB-1 protein and oxidative stress parameters of gastroscope biopsy specimens of EC.To provide theoretical basis for the clinical diagnosis and prognosis of EC.Method: We collected 92 cases of esophageal cancer patients in different clinical stages before treatment, and the fasting blood in 64 volunteers with physical examination, testing the serum of TOS and TAS levels, and calculated the OSI value.Compare of serum oxidative stress parameters in patients with EC and healthy subjects. At the same time,we compared the difference of oxidative stress parameters in different clinical stages of EC,the history of smokeless alcohol, short term efficacy and the expression level of YB-1 protein.IBM SPSS 22 statistical software is used for statistical analysis,P<0.05 as a statistically significant difference.Result: In patients with EC,the value of TOS compared with the healthy population is low,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01),and patients with TAS values were significantly lower than the healthy population, statistically significant differences between the two groups(P<0.01),the ratio of OSI also had statistical significance(P<0.01).TOS,TAS and OSI value had no statistical significance with patients the expression of YB-1 protein and clinical stage, smoking and drinking history and treatment effect(P>0.05).Conclusion: TAS and TOS in serum of patients with esophageal carcinoma may be potential biomarkers;ROC curve analysis showed that TOS and TAS have some reference value in the diagnosis of esophageal cancer; The expression level of YB-1 protein in patients with pathological examination compared with that of TOS,TAS and OSI in serum of patients with esophageal cancer was no correlation.
