Aims:To summarize the clinical characteristics, typing and outcome of sudden sensorineural hearing loss(SSNHL)in different age of patients,in order to better explore their clinical characteristics and prognosis. Methods:From August 2016 to January 2017,353 patients with sudden sensorinural hearing loss who were hospitalized and had complete clinical data were collected. All patients were divided into four groups according to age, including Group 1(0-18 years old),Group 2(19-44 years old),Group 3(45-59 years old),and Group 4(over 60 years old).We retrospectively analyzed the sex, ear, onset time, predisposing factors, accompany symptoms, hearing loss degrees, audiogram curve types, curative effect and long-term efficacy of patients with sudden deafness in different age groups.SPSS22.0 software was used for statistical analysis. The main statistical method used includes two pairs of samples of the measurement data using the paired samples of the T test in the case of normal distribution. The difference test of the count data was performed using the chi-square test. Two comparisons used the split test level method.Level data used non-parametric rank sum test.Inspection level a = 0.05.Results:A total of 353 patients were enrolled.Children group, youth group, middle age group and elderly group accounted for 8.50%,37.39%,34.56%,19.55% respectively.190(196 ears)were from males and 163(167 ears)were from females. The 178 ears were from left,The 166 ears were from right, and 10 ears were bilateral.Age range from 4 to 82 years old.1.Among the four groups of patients with sudden sensorineural hearing loss, there were no significance difference between any two groups(p> 0.05)in the comparison of sex and onset time. The incidence of right ear in children was 76.67%(23/30).2.16.67% of the children in the group had a history of cold or fever, significantly higher than the other three groups. The difference was statistically significant(p <0.05).3.In the children group, only 6.67%(2/30)patients with vertigo, while in the youth group, middle age group, elderly group were 9.09%,22.13%,14.49% respectively, the results were statistically significant.Four groups associated with tinnitus patients were 53.33%?62.12%?52.46%?44.93%,the difference was not statistically significant(p> 0.05).4.There was no significant difference in the degree of hearing loss between the four groups of sudden sensorineural hearing loss(p> 0.05).In the ascending hearing loss, the incidence rate was higher in the youth group(23.70%)than in the middle age group(7.94%)and the old age group(5.56%)(p <0.05).There were no descending hearing loss and 50% profound hearing loss in the children group.5.The total recovery rate was 50%,55.81%,38.10% and 30.56% respectively.Among them, the youth group had the best recovery rate.In the elderly group, only 1(1.4%)patients were complete recovery, and the complete recovery rate in the children group was 20%.6.Comparing to the efficacy after treatment, the long-term efficacy have improvement especially the low frequency, and the results were statistically significant. Conclusion:Different age groups have different clinical features and prognosis of sudden sensorineural hearing loss(SSNHL).We can improve the personalized treatment program to this disease through the classification and grading treatment.
