Objective: To investigate the value of color Doppler ultrasound screening for venous thrombosis before the removing of central venous catheter(CVC)in asymptomatic patients. Methods: All consultations of asymptomatic patients with CVC implanted accompanying venous thrombosis detected by ultrasound from July 2014 to June 2016 were retrospectively analyzed, the treatment and follow-up results were also collected.Result: 306 patients were included in this study.Ultrasound showed the thrombus size of(7.5~22)mm ×(2.3~4)mm,average(4.9±2.31)mm ×(13±0.97)mm.All patients had the catheter removed according to the original plan,no clinical events of pulmonary embolism were observe.None of the patients received additional anticoagulant therapy, and the majority of the patients did not show any residual thrombosis during follow-u.Conclusion:The venous thrombosis detected by ultrasound screeningin asymptomatic patients with CVC has low risk leading tosymptomatic pulmonary embolism, and does not need special treatment.so the ultrasound screening in asymptomatic patients with CVC is unnecessary.
