Mechanical Strength Detection Of Constic Self-adhesive Flowable Resin

Objective: To provide a theoretical basis for the clinical use of Constic self-adhesive flowable resin,this study compared the tensile strength,compressive strength,flexural strength,shear bond strength of Constic resin,FiltekTM Supreme Ultra resin and Spectrum TPH3 resin.Methods: Firstly,the test specimens of Constic self-adhesive flowable resin(group A),FiltekTM Supreme Ultra resin(group B)and Spectrum TPH3resin(group C)were prepared successfully and were detected by electronic universal testing machine to examine the tensile strength,compressive strength,flexural strength of them.Secondly,the test specimens of Constic self-adhesive flowable resin(group A),Constic resin and adhesive(group B),FiltekTM Supreme Ultra resin(group C)and Spectrum TPH3 resin(group D)were prepared according to the requirement.Then we used electronic universal testing machine to test the shear bond strength and used microscope to observe the fracture mode of the specimens.All data were analyzed with the statical software,statistical description used(SX ?),compared data between groups by variance analysis,further multiple comparisons of the sample means used SNK(Student-Newman-Keuls)test,according to?=0.05(bilateral),P<0.05 that was statistically significant.Results: The tensile strength values of Constic resin(group A),FiltekTM Supreme Ultra resin(group B)and Spectrum TPH3 resin(group C)were31.10�8.35 MPa,35.10�6.65 MPa,30.00�7.08 MPa respectively,the tensile strength value of the group A similar to group B and C,but there were no statistical difference among the three groups(P>0.05).The compressive strength value of group A was 287.53�22.99 MPa,significantly lower than the values presented by the group B(358.85�32.67MPa)and group C(355.72�43.18MPa)(P<0.05).The flexural strength of group A,B and C were101.09�18.18 MPa,115.05�19.08 MPa,109.94�28.23 MPa respectively,and there were no statistical difference among the three groups(P>0.05).The shear bond strength values of Constic resin(group A),Constic resin and adhesive(group B),FiltekTM Supreme Ultra resin(group C)and Spectrum TPH3 resin(group D)were 19.48�1.58 MPa,24.22�3.00 MPa,20.42�3.09 MPa,17.80�2.07 MPa.And no statistical difference among group A,C and D were found(P>0.05),there were significant difference comparing with group B,and the value of group B was higher than the other three groups(P<0.05).The fracture modes of the specimens on the adhesive surface mostly were interface,and a little was mixed observed by microscope,Conclusion: This study suggested that the tensile strength,flexural strength and shear bond strength of Constic self-adhesive flowable resin was similar to the other two resins that had been widely used in clinical.Although the compressive strength of Constic self-adhesive flowable resin was slightly lower than the other two resins,it could satisfy the requirement of dental restorative materials,then it could be applied in clinical.
