Analysis On Cost Of Preesure Ulcer Treatment And Its Influencing Factors For Elderly Inpatients In A Major Hospital In Chong Qing

Objective: To understand the cost of pressure ulcer treatment and its influencing factors for elderly inpatients and to offer reference for controlling pressure ulcer cost and relieving patients' financial burden.Methods: A retrospective investigation and analysis method was utilized to collect basic information was descriptively analyzed and the influencing factors of the cost of pressure ulcer treatment were analyzed using univariate analysis and multiple step wise regression analysis.Results: There are 122 elderly patients and the total cost was 183356.5RMB,each patient pressre sores is 831.00(447.75,1461.25)yuan,and the dressing changes fee account for 70.43%,the cost of dressing took up 16.6%,the cost of air mattress bed accounted for 12.68% and others took up 0.29%.The main influencing factors of pressure ulcers treatment cost were ability of activity,the length of hospitalization and the number of ulcers in the body(P<0.05,P<0.01).Other facotors including the stage of pressure ulcer,diet style,the Braden score at admission.Conclusion: The cost of pressure ulcers treatment for elderly inpatient is influenced by many factors.In order to control the pressure ulcers cost,Clinical nurses should assess wounds accurately and choose suitable dressings,change dressing effectively,and use air mattress bed for patients with pressure ulcers or in high risk to shorten the length of hospitalization and control the cost of pressure ulcer treatment.
