Objective:To study the expression of Angiopoietin-2(Ang-2)and Vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)in renal cell carcinoma(RCC),and the relationship with tumor angiopoiesis. Methods:The expression of Ang-2 、 VEGF and CD34 were measured by immunohistochemistry S-P method in tissue sections from 50 cases of RCC and their pericarcinous tissue and 6 cases of normal renal tissue. Results:The positive expression rates of Ang-2 and VEGF in RCC tissues was 62%(31/50)and 68%(34/50),respectively,which was significantly higher than those in pericarcinous tissues and normal renal tissues, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The positive expression rates of Ang-2 and VEGF in the stages of Ⅲ-Ⅳ was 92.3%(12/13)and 100%(13/13),respectively,and was significantly higher than those in the stages ofⅠ-Ⅱ,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The microvessel density(MVD)values of Ang-2 positive group in RCC was higher than the in negative group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The MVD values of VEGF positive group in RCC was higher than the in negative group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).When the expression of VEGF was positive, the MVD value of Ang-2 positive group was significantly higher than that of negative group, thedifference was statistically significant(P<0.05).When the expression of VEGF was negative, the MVD value of Ang-2 positive group was significantly slightly greater than that of negative group, the difference was not statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The expression of Ang-2 and VEGF was higher in the RCC than those in the noncancerous renal tissue.Ang-2 and VEGF have a relationship with RCC clinical stages, angiogenesis. They may have a synergy with each other in angiogenesis of renal cell carcinoma.
