| Objective: Through the analysis of morbidity,mortality and survival data of malignant tumors in Wuxi city from 2010 to 2014,to master the occurrence and death rules,popular characteristics and five-year survival rate of malignant tumors during this period in the region and to explore risk factors,which on one hand can guide the residents to prevent the main popular cancers in Wuxi city and on the other hand also can provide reliable basis for the health administrative departments to develop scientific strategies for prevention and treatment of cancers.Methods: The data were from the residents in Wuxi city during January 1,2010 to December 31,2014,which include incidence data from the slow disease network direct reporting system of Wuxi and death data from the national death registration report information system.The incidence data are encoded using ICD10 and ICD-0-3 according to international disease classification.The death data are encoded using ICD10.The SPSS 17.0 software package was used for performing the descriptive statistical analysis of the incidence and death data of 2010-2014.The SAS software was used to calculate the five-year survival rate according to the diagnosis of malignant tumors in 2010 and follow-up information.Results: A total of new cases of malignant tumors was 39016 during 2010 to 2014 in Wuxi city.The average annual crude incidence rate was 324.61/100,000(males 374.69/100000,females 273.05/100000,respectively).The incidence of malignant tumors increased 10.32% from 296.56/100,000 in 2010 to 327.17/100,000 in 2014.Prostate cancer is the fastest growing malignancy with a speed of 13.20% per year.The top five incidence cancers were gastric cancer(60.24/100,000),lung cancer(49.51/100,000),colorectal cancer(41.45/100,000),liver cancer(23.40/100,000)and breast cancer(22.89/100,000).A total of death cases of malignant tumors was 25402 during 2010 to 2014 in Wuxi city.The average annual crude death rate was 211.34/100,000(males 269.35/100000,females 156.97/100,000).The mortality of malignant tumors increased 10.30% from 2010(195.68/100,000)to 2014(215.83/100,000).Leukemia was the most serious cancer in children.Lung cancer and gastric cancer were most likely to lead to death for young adults,middle-aged group and elderly group.The top five death cancers were lung cancer(46.22/100,000),gastric cancer(40.24/100,000),liver cancer(22.08/100,000),esophageal cancer(18.77/100,000)and colorectal cancer(18.05/100,000).The five-year OS in whole population for 5 leading sites of cancers,gastric,lung,colon,liver and breast were 32.45%,18.84%,50.93%,14.42% and 81.10%,respectively.The five-year OS of male patients for 5 leading sites of cancers,gastric,lung,colon,esophageal and liver were 32.96%,17.60%,50.51%,28.30% and 15.09%,respectively.The five-year OS of female patients for 5 leading sites of cancers,breast,gastric,colon,lung and cervical were 81.34%,31.19%,51.47%,21.77% and 72.90%,respectively.Conclusions: 1.The incidence of malignancy in Wuxi city was on the rise,but the standardized incidence rate was declining,which was lower than the national standardized incidence rate.The malignant tumors were mainly lung cancer and gastrointestinal cancer.It's important to note that the incidence of prostate cancer in men has increased rapidly.2.The mortality rate of malignancy of men in Wuxi city has been higher than that of women since the age of ten.The death of the child group was mainly caused by leukemia and brain and neurological malignancies,which of the young adult group was liver cancer and of the middle-age group and elderly group were lung cancer and gastric cancer.3.The five-year OS in female patients in Wuxi city were higher than that of women.The survival rate of pancreatic cancer,liver cancer and lung cancer were low.However,the prognosis of thyroid cancer,breast cancer and cervical cancer were relatively good. |
