Rewards system had been a part of the political system in ancient China, and itpresented stage characteristics. The Yuan Dynasty which was founded by prairienomads, whose rewards system was quite different from the Central Plains dynasty(????). The rewards system of Yuan Dynasty was more rigid in system and morelarge in scale effect, which had outperformed all dynasties before, and it took on adense prairie culture tradition?The rewards system of Yuan Dynasty possessed the following characteristics:In the first place, the rewards system of Yuan Dynasty rooted in differentpolitical ethics with the system under the Han nationality dynasty monarchbureaucracy. The rewards system of Yuan Dynasty de rived from the political traditionof prairie, the core part of which was based on the prairie patrimonial tradition theGenghis Khan(????)family who share the world in common. The secondary wasthe secretaries' mission to emperor in prairie style, which had been few of theinfluence of Central Plains(??)culture, but it still embodies binary characteristics?Secondly, the rewards objects of Yuan Dynasty were commonly clanaristocracies princes of Mongolia, upper religious and prairie nomads. The forms ofreward included yearly reward, special reward, banquet reward, Quriltai(???)reward, new emperor ascending reward, relieving also could be seen as a reward. Thereward gifts contained extensively, almost everything to reward, but mainly bullion,bill, grain, silk fabrics etc, it reflect a strong economical efficiency?Thirdly, the rewards of Yuan Dynasty were regular and rated, but sometimeshandled special cases with special methods. In general terms, the rewards of YuanDynasty were huge in amounts, frequent and with a multitude of names. The rewardscaused a great financial burden to the Yuan Dynasty objectively, that someacademicians charged off the financial crisis in later Yuan Dynasty to the excessiverewards?The scholars in the past who discussed the rewards system of Mongolia and Yuan Dynasty were all at a standard of the Central Plains and Confucian(??)thinking, andgave a harsh criticism to the rewards system of Yuan Dynasty, and looked upon it asexcessive rewards. Actually this view had a prodigious one-sidedness, which simpleconsidered the economic burden to Han area, but hadn't been able to stand in themulti-ethnic unified country standpoint to review the rewards system of Yuan Dynasty,an hadn't cognize the rationality and necessity of the rewards system of Yuan Dynasty.They also forgot the ruler of Yuan Dynasty facing the challenge of prairie meanwhile,in order to integrat nomadic economy into the Central Plains farming economy,maintain national long period of stability, economic means were more effective thanmilitary ways. Thus the prairie economic aid was imperative, but this kind ofeconomic aid package a gorgeous coat of rewards. Therefore, although the rewardssystem of Yuan Dynasty bore a bad reputation of excessive rewards, it was objectivelypropitious to the melange of farming civilization and nomadic civilization, and had apositive function for the stability of the Yuan Dynasty unified pattern.
