A Research Report On The Translation Of Federal Food, Drug, And Cosmetic Act (350h-350i & 360c) Into Chinese

Thanks to the rapid development of society and economy, China has become the second-largest economy in the world. Therefore, we should strengthen our legal management and improve the legal system. Meanwhile, in the way of internationalization, translation plays an important role in introducing more foreign legal documents into China, thus posting the legal relationship. However, the amount of translation can rarely meet our need of such information because few people specialize in legal translation. Relative research on legal translation is not satisfying.The study, taking the case of the translation of Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, tries to summarize some translating methods and strategies. First, it introduces the reasons for selecting this task as a case in terms of macroscopic background and microcosmic text characteristics. And then it elaborates the whole process of translation from the three levels of pre-translation, translation and post-translation. It uses some examples to show the translating problems and solutions. Finally, it emphasizes the directive function of Katharina Reiss' text typology theory and summarizes methods of translating legal terminology and strategies of adjusting sentence structure.
