Hao Jing annotated nine different Confucian classics. The Annotation On The Analects was his splendid monograph of The Analects. In the arrangement of annotation, he paid attention to the explanations of the meaning of the words and the textual research of the name and reality; he not only explained the meaning of the sentences, but also summaried the mian idea of every sections; he broke the pattern that the first Ru first annotated the scripture then to the annotation;he corrected the misunderstanding of the first Ru's annotation on The Analects; he also focused on annotation, textual criticism and argumentation. By doing these, he made a full annotation on The Analects. In terms of ideology, Hao Jing advocated a return to the Confucian classics and Confucianism to break the domination of Neo-Confucianism in late Ming Dynasty. He stood for not distinguishing between Li and Qi. He alse considered that Li couldn't leave things. He attached importance to Qi not for the description of origin of the universe but for affirming people, things, objects after Qi,namely the daily. He thought that temperament was closely linked with the daily. The meaning of temperament was loyalty and filial piety of the Confucian classics and what we had seen, heard and done. He stressed the unity of knowing and doing. In his opinion, intuitive knowledge was innate, but it could covered by ignorance. If we wanted to make our intuitive knowledge to show, we must rely on our acquired action. The action was loyalty and filial piety which Confucius advocated.Because of the rage of Buddhism, Hao Jing animadverted on Buddhism. In The Annotation On The Analects, He only summed up Buddhism as a religion which was without etiquette and human relations; illegaly and cruel. Certainly, his viewpoint on Buddhism was superficial and unfair.
