Chinese folk paper-cut, like folk art in other regions of the world, is the direct heritage of primitive culture. enduring for thousands of years, china folk paper-cut is called the element symbols of folk culture. Among them, festival folk paper-cut plays an important role in the folk paper-cut, since it is very close with folk activities.Folk festival accompanied by the emergence and development of the agricultural civilization, is closely related to the mass production and lives. Many folk festivals present their cultural connotations to the public by art forms of the paper-cut. Paper-cut plays an important role in things of a series of folk festivals like the Spring Festival, Dragon Boat Festival and etc.. In recent years, with the gradual fading of the traditional folk festival meaning and the gradual disappearance of folk festival activities, the folk festival paper-cut have gradually been forgotten. Today, in the face of the status of the missing traditional Chinese folk festival emotion media, we should see folk festival paper-cut as a communication bridge between past and present, to further tap the cultural connotations, psychological needs of mass, graphic patterns and aesthetic characteristics inherent in the festival paper-cut graphics, to applied to the visual image related designs.The article is divided into five parts: the first part is an introduction. Describes the project origin, purpose and significance, introduced current research of folk festivals domestic and foreign. The second part analysis the time dimension. First, exploring background of the folk festival.secondly, combed through the folk festival-cut in the development and change of status of all times, looking for it's history trajectory. Third part details the North-South regional paper-cut style and divided into theme categories, find the typical graphic elements. Part four describes graphical in three ways. First, summarized four representative types of graphics for analysis of cultural meaning. Secondly, summarizes the graphics 's basic patterns and abstract features. Illustrates the legend behind the implication of the Festival. Finally, from the styling characteristics, formation, decoration and thought to described it's aesthetic feature. Part five briefly explain the inspiration to modern design and add personal design practice to enrich knowledge.
