| Han Yu Da Zi Dian is our China’s representative dictionary which contains maximum Chinese characters and comprehensive definition. The second edition makes some revision and supplement on the basis of the first one, which makes it becomes the latest Chinese character model. Thus the digitization of this dictionary’s character entries becomes very meaningful, meanwhile it will help to expand the spread and application of this big Chinese dictionary.This paper finds out 5287 entries in Han Yu Da Zi Dian(Second edition) which cann’t be digitized at present. By analyzing, there are 607 entries that belongs to the old and new glyph problem and 4680 entries which hasn’t been included in the national standard character set yet. The solution of digitizing these 5287 entries is by creating an alternate font and a new font.In the process of digitizing the entries in Han Yu Da Zi Dian(Second edition), this paper finds two issues that hasn’t been discussed before, one is four groups of entries with same shape but have different pronunciation and meaning, another one is 12 enties which appears in the first edition but do not show up in the second. This paper will analyze these entries and propose digitization methods such as adding a label to one character, replacing one character ’s glyph etc. and finally realizes the digitization of all the entries in Han Yu Da Zi Dian(Second edition). |
