The Research On Characters Of Head

In Chinese, the head is one of the oldest and most important semantic fields in the key words. But the research of Chinese character should be involved pronunciation and shape and meaning. So it should be different between the research on Chinese characters and the research of vocabulary. In this paper, we use reference Books such as "Shuowen jiezi", "Oracle dictionary" "Bronze dictionary” and other dictionaries to find 14 characters, which are defined as head. Then according to traditional philology research methods such as "Finding meaning by shape ", "Seeking meaning by pronunciation ", "Compare and prove" to analyze every character. Try to find the similarities and differences from ancient to modern times. And search invisible links of those characters. And then we find in modern Chinese, only the character “tou” and “shou” keep original meaning of head. After that, we use some representative literature in the pre-Qin, Han, Wei and Jin Dynasties for research material. To find the reasons of the replacement of represent character in the meaning of head. Then we find it became twice replacement, “shou” replaced “yuan” and “tou” replaced “shou”. Reveal the internal causes and external causes of language development.
