Teaching Chinese as a foreign language over a dozen years, the booming of Chinese teaching theory and practice have achieved fruitful results. The first important thing in the basic daily communication is to understand what others are speaking. Therefore, the teaching effectiveness in the Chinese listening class directly affects the foreign students’ English communication skills. Since the development of teaching of Chinese listening as a separate discipline is relatively slow and lag, many teachers are affected by the traditional teaching mode. They just repeated the teaching process such as put the recording, do the exercises, speak the right answer in the listening class. Lacking of vivid, having no fun and there is no lively atmosphere making many students have a fear of difficulty and boredom to the listening class. If we can’t change this teaching model, there will be a bad recycle of “the listening is hard- I don’t like the listening class” in the future.This paper analyzed the current situation of the teaching of listening Chinese as a foreign language and the application of situational teaching method in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Based on the features of the situational teaching method, the principle, general procedure and kinds of situation etc. We described the advantage of the situational teaching method and its application in the feasibility of listening teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Then we used the situational teaching method in the real Chinese classroom of listening to verify its credibility.This paper is divided into four parts: first, we introduced the research background, elaborated the meaning and purpose of the using situational teaching method in the Chinese listening class; and second, we overviewed the situational teaching method from the definition, characteristics, principles, classification and other aspects, laying a theoretical foundation for the below situation teaching method applied in practice; third aspect, from the feasibility of the situational teaching method applied in Chinese listening and concrete application and so on to talk about the situational teaching method application in the teaching of listening Chinese as a foreign language; fourth, Combining with the above theoretical basis and the sum of application of situational teaching method in the Chinese listening classroom, we used the teaching design in the real classroom. Finally summarized the teaching experience in the form of questionnaire and the teaching suggestions are proposed.
