Chinese common words are the core parts of vocabulary system, whose evolution is essential to starting research into Chinese vocabulary history systematically and insightful. Sleeping activity, which is important in our daily life, forms a relative independent concepts of sleeping in people’s minds. In the Chinese vocabulary history,the verbs referring to sleeping are variant. Based on the poems of 26 representative poets in Song Dynasty, the frequently used sleeping verbs are selected as research object,which is collected and presented detailed. The analytic hierarchy process is used for revealing the detail of historical evolution in Song Dynasty.This paper is divided into three parts, including four chapters.Chapter 1 addressed the thesis topic selection causes, research object, research materials and research status briefly. Chapter 2 presented the usage of sleeping verbs in the Earlier Song Dynasty by combination of the analytic hierarchy process and the meaning of words.Chapter 3 presented the usage of sleeping verbs in Southern Song Dynasty by the same method.In the last Chapter, the entire usage of five sleeping verbs in the poems of Song Dynasty is concluded.We found the “qin”and”mei”are classcial Chinese in the sleep vocabulary system of Song Dynasty,which were rarely used,the meaning and useage of them had no development.The most commonly used meaning of verb “wo” is lying.Verb “mian” and “shui” are the two most important verbs in the sleep vocabulary system of Song Dynasty.
