Tracing back to the end of 1970 s, critical discourse analysis(CDA for short) is an emerging approach for discourse analysis, which grabs much attention in the linguistic field as well as in social research. It takes an intense interest in the interrelationship among language, power and ideology, featuring the close relations between language and social process. As one of CDA's function, it has a bearing on raising people's awareness(especially the critical language awareness) to many social problems, the problems of unequal power relations among people in particular, such as racism, sexism, and educational unfairness, etc. Recently, owing to the rapid development of network, too much news and information has been built into people's life for the public to digest. Some of news, often titled as “Bei +××” news, are fabricated by news makers. On account of their special part they play in society, public figures' “Bei +××” news event which catches great attention has cropped up one after. This is because the discourses are in control, implicit control precisely, over the public. Based on systemic-functional linguistic(SFL for short) theoretically, and combined with Fairclough's three-dimensional model methodologically, the thesis is to analyze the data of 30 samples(chosen and selected from online internet news between 2002 and 2015) about news of Chinese figures being falsely or untruthfully reported. The study adopts quantitative and qualitative research method aiming to deal with the implicit control of “Bei+××” news discourse by working out following questions:1. How is ideology embedded in the implicit control of “Bei+××” news event?2. What kind of power is hidden in the implicit control?3. What's the relationship between depoliticization and implicit control?Through the attempt of this thesis, major findings can be concluded as follows:The implicit control reveals from three main aspects imbedded in implicit control, namely ideology, power and depoliticization:Firstly, from the perspective of ideational metafunction of news discourse, the utilization of lexical transformation of ideational metaphor and transitivity of ideational function unveils the ideology embedded in implicit control. Lexical transformation, involving nominalization and adjectivization, is applied to attain the goal of offering seemly “enough” information within limited space and seems to benon-negotiable from perspective of readers to convince readers to believe. Besides, the analysis on transitivity system shows that news discourses lays the stress on material processes( taking up 44% of all processes) in discourse and brings forth the idea that activities and entities consisting in the arrangement of process, participants and circumstances are focused so as to construe the active and manageable scene in front of readers so as to empathize. To summarize, the analysis on ideational function which exerts impact on the public's ideology mainly contributes to the realization of“truthfulness” of “Bei+××” news discourse.Secondly, the application of interpersonal metaphor implicitly covers the disadvantage of being too subjective and highlights the “reality” of news by the“authority” the news reporter supposes to own and the power of language so that writers can express their opinions about the event so as to disguise the unity of subjectivity and objectivity of news report. In terms of mood analysis, presenting a direct idea of what's happening in the views of readers implicitly reveals the power or authorities the public take for granted. Though some implicit modalities are involved, these modalities are the opinions or sayings of the public figures or the authorities faked by news writers. The feature of unity of subjectivity and objectivity through language is simulated by news maker which convinces the public of the power/authority of news writers and further to believe the news is true.Thirdly, regarding depoliticization embedded in implicit control, the analysis on textual metaphor and thematic structure is served. The “truthfulness” of news report is overlooked and feature of timeliness is unveiled as a result of depoliticization in news by means of implicit control of news writers. In addition, with the twist social climate, the public is easily affected by a scoop mentality, readers by sour grapes, people by conformity and they are more likely to be deceived or even want those false news to be true. The attempt is to provide an innovative standpoint for construing this social issue, second one is to denaturalize the implicit control and further to raise the public awareness for critical reading, third one is to contribute to raising a critical worldview for “Bei+××” news event all over the world.
