As a medium of communication,money plays an important role in Habermas' s critical theory of society. It causes the effect of colonization of the lifeworld with the medium of power. It is the root of the illness of modern capitalist society. It has a positive meaning by studying in Habermas' s concept of money,and explaining the illness in modern society caused by money from the perspective of social evolution.Habermas expends the study of money from the economic field to the social field, thus deepening Marx's critical analysis of money. Starting with this aspect, it will help us to understand the emerging social contradictions from a new perspective.This paper, besides the introduction and conclusion, is divided into three chapters. The first chapter is about the context of Habermas' s concept of money. It shows three theoretical sources of the concept of monetary in Habermas' critical theory of society. With a dialectical analysis of the social critical theory of Frankfurt school, the functionalist theory of Parsons, the transformation of the form of lifeworld in the formal pragmatics, it fully affirmed its theory contribution by Habermas. The second chapter is about basic contents of Habermas' monetary theory. From the two aspects of the action theory and the social theory, Habermas' s concept of money has been explored. The author systematically introduces the composition and function of the currency in Habermas' s critical theory. The third chapter is about the meaning of Habermas' monetary theory. It develop Marx's critical analysis of monetary by expending the study of money from the economic field to the social field.The innovation of this paper lies in: Firstly, it preliminarily sort out Habermas' concept of monetary, and to understand Habermas' critical theory of society from the point of view of money; Secondly, through the concrete elaboration and analysis, we will find that Habermas' theory of money is of its contemporary value.
