The Exploration Of Chinese Small Town Films

Since the 1990 s,the films with the small town's people and story as the main object appear one after another,which tells the daily life of the marginal people with natural and simple language.For a long time,the small town films are in an embarrassing position that these films can't be appreciated by domestic audiences,some of them are called “ban”,some fell short at the box office,although they won many prizes overseas.Since it is difficult to grasp the concept of small town films,there are few articles about them.In the article,the writer defines the scope of the “small town” and the definition of some town films.According to the previous research methods and direction,this paper interprets small town films from 4 aspects: the development,the topic subject the aesthetic characteristics and future development.And this paper mainly discusses the works after the1990 s.First of all,analyze the reasons of small town film's advent and its meaning for Chinese society by the research of Neozoic directors,such as Zhangke Jia,Xiaoshuai Wang,etc.;besides,summarize the common aesthetic characteristics of small town film by illustration and examples;last,analyze the problems of the development of small town film,and offer solutions from the realistic point of view.There is practical significance to study small town film,we can find out the conflicts in the development,and have a better understanding of the marginal people's spiritual confusion,as well as draw more attention to the study of small town films.
