The Poetic Writing On The Daily Liveso Of Marginal Men In Small Town

Since the last century eighties and nineties, with the development of market economyand cultural commoditization, writers begin to focus on the writing of everyday life instead ofambitious social themes. Zhang Chu who belongs to China’s post-70s generation, a native ofHebei, is one of them. However, his concern about the small towns, which exist betweenurban and rural, makes his writing quite different. He shows us the daily lives of marginal andvulnerable groups who are living in the small towns poetically. His writings don’t stay in theemotional aspects of life but start with the form and end to the metaphysical which is a kindof spiritual experience writing rather than the normal writing. He is brave to face the darkreality and the dirty hearts of the people. Observing with a compassionate heart, refining therough and shiny parts from their trivial daily lives, presenting poetically with his calm andelegant way and showing his philosophy towards social life and human life is his writingstyle.This dissertation consists of three chapters. Chapter One focuses on the formation andcharacteristics of Zhang Chu’s writing subject through his small town life experience; ChapterTwo elaborates on his poetic manifestation of daily life, including melancholy poeticcharacteristics of his work, poetic writing on daily life details, the poetic temperamentreflected through digging out people’s souls and his thinking on the value and the meaning oflife; Chapter Three is dedicated to the artistic feathers in Zhang Chu’s works, reflected in hisirregular poetic narration, calm, elegant and humorous language, poetic symbols and artisticdialectics. The conclusion part summarizes the originality and transcendence of Zhang Chu’sworks on daily life, affirms his position in literary history and tries to find deficiencies inZhang Chu’s novels.In this dissertation, I am going to explore the ideological content and artistic quality ofZhang Chu’s daily writing, through his specific works and his growth and creation experience,focusing on the poetic writing about the daily life of marginal men in small town. From hisworks, I hope to grasp the characteristics of his creations more accurately and thoroughly,explore the originality and transcendence of his works on daily life writing and show hisunique poetic world of daily life, so that we can get a more complete investigation on ZhangChu’s novel creation.
