As the most famous film directed by Fei Mu, Spring in a Small Town laid the position of China's national film in the world by the unique esthetical, implicit artistic style. After more than fifty years, Tian Zhuangzhuang, the last fifth best director created a new version of it, recalling people's memory of Spring in a Small Town and Fei Mu himself. The differences between the two version is not analyzed fully, critics always compare them simply in the film text, but have no deeper investigation. This paper is aiming to comparing the literary, visual dimensions of the two versions and the difference between the two directors, by discussing three aspects. The first part is aiming to analysis how the two directors figured the literary meaning by using off sense, downplaying of plots, tracing heart and giving prominence to artistic conceptions. The second part is aiming to build the theory of Air and the national film, by composing different aspects, such as the picture, color, field of views, long take and the connection of the lens, etc. he different life histories are also considered as the very important elements make the two defacement films. That is the essential reason that the Fei Mu's version is better than Tian Zhuangzhuang's, and sends out constant rays of light.
